Al Rayan Bank sponsors Leicestershire County Cricket Club (LCCC)
Al Rayan Bank (UK) has entered into an agreement to sponsor Leicestershire County Cricket Club and its promising player, left-arm fast bowler Atif Sheikh.
The 25-year-old, who won plaudits for his recent tourist performance against Sri Lanka, was the last player to take a hat-trick for the club in first-class cricket. The bowler achieved that feat against Gloucestershire at Bristol in 2014.
Al Rayan Bank has also become a member of Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s 1879 Club, which includes advertising at the Fischer County Ground, the opportunity to attend matches, and the chance to attend exclusive networking events.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Sultan Choudhury, CEO, Al Rayan Bank, said: “We aim to support initiatives in the communities where our customers live and work. As one of our branches is in Leicester, a city that holds cricket close to its heart, this is a great opportunity for us to give something back through our sponsorship of the club and of Atif Sheikh.”
2016 is already proving a great year for both organisations; Al Rayan Bank revealed that it is welcoming record numbers of new customers and scooped three major honours at one of the finance industry’s leading awards ceremonies, the Moneyfacts Awards. Whilst, Leicestershire County Cricket Club has started extremely well in the Specsavers County Championship, losing just one of their first seven matches and recently beating leaders Essex in a division that is proving to be wide open with one promotion place available.
Wasim Khan MBE, Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Cricket Club, said: “It’s great to have such a prestigious brand as Al Rayan Bank on board as a sponsor to the club and we look forward to working alongside the business in the future. To have their backing is testament to the support we enjoy from businesses throughout our region.”
Al Rayan Bank has been a pioneer of British retail Islamic banking for twelve years. The only wholly Sharia compliant retail bank in the UK, it has earned a reputation for providing innovative products which appeal to people of any faith. The Bank estimates that in 2015, 86% of fixed term deposit (FTD) customers who joined the Bank were non-Muslim.
As an independent UK bank, Al Rayan Bank is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority, regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority and is a member of Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
